Wawasan Brunei 2035 Special Session Meeting
18 April 2026 – Wawasan Brunei 2035 remains the nation's main strategic framework in driving the socio-economic development of Brunei Darussalam towards achieving sustainable national prosperity and the well-being of its people. In line with this commitment, the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam continues to review and update the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Framework in detail to ensure it remains relevant,
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, emphasised the matter while chairing the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Special Session Meeting held at Istana Nurul Iman today.
Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Crown Prince Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
His Majesty also took note that follow-up actions from the First Wawasan Brunei 2035 Supreme Council Meeting for 2025 had been implemented through the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Coordination Meetings as well as discussions at the Working Committee level.
His Majesty emphasised that the KPIs in the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Framework must reflect national priorities that are relevant, strategic and comprehensive, as these KPIs not only form the basis of effective decision-making, but also serve as a guide in assessing the nation's progress.

His Majesty further expressed the hope that the mechanism for setting and reviewing KPIs would be resilient, enabling targets to be periodically reassessed and adjusted in line with unforeseen changes. In this regard, the measure of success of the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Framework is not merely meeting targets, but achievements that are truly felt by the people in their daily lives – this is what constitutes real success.
In this context, His Majesty emphasised the importance of unity and prioritising the key development areas in facing global uncertainty, which will continue to be the main drivers in realising the nation's aspirations.
His Majesty further stated in the Titah that the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Framework remains the main strategic document in guiding national development towards 2035. With effective implementation, supported by clear national KPIs and planned actions, His Majesty is fully confident that the nation is on the right track to achieve the goals that have been set.
His Majesty also expressed the hope that all parties will continue to carry out their respective responsibilities with full commitment, integrity and accountability. Sustained commitment and close cooperation will ensure that Wawasan Brunei 2035 continues to be a driver of national progress, thereby guaranteeing the well-being of the people and lasting prosperity for present and future generations.
